Meet Monica Byrne, a quintessential self-made designer that found her place in the fiercely competitive world of Fashion, only through immense dedication, fervor, and a critical eye for style. With an extensive background in textile design upon graduation from the University of Kansas, Byrne began working under designer, Lucy Barnes for two years as assistant designer before moving to freelance work. During this period, Byrne had the opportunity to work under and learn from highly reputable brands such as Ralph Lauren, Gap, Anthropologie, and Donna Karan. Byrne applied her academic training and became an expert in her specialty: Handwork detailing, hand embroidery, beading, and dyeing.

Byrne’s passion and talent was unveiled with the debut of her self-named women’s collection, Monica Byrne in Spring 2005. The collection offered women an array of sophisticated ready to wear, cocktail frocks and exquisite evening gowns. With an incredible emphasis on meticulous hand-craftsmanship, the Monica Byrne collection boasts an eclectic mix of handmade imported fabrics, hand-beaded lace, and ethereal embroidery, silks, satin and chiffons. The Monica Byrne collection can be found in Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and Beverly Hills, as well as luxury boutiques nationwide. Monica, herself, is a 26 year-old designer who lives and works from her studio in Manhattan’s Soho. Apart from designing, Byrne enjoys karaoke, cooking, and biking to flea markets on the weekends.
